In her memoir Lovely One – the title is a translation of her African name, Ketanji Onyika – she recalls as a teenager asking her grandmother: “Why do they think just because I’m Black I’m going to steal from them?”
Her grandmother replied: “Guard your spirit, Ketanji. To dwell on the unfairness of life is to be devoured by it.”
She has kept that advice close as she has risen up the judicial ladder.
“I rejected self-doubt and self-loathing,” she writes. “Instead I chose possibility. I chose purpose.”
Danielle Sassoon, Hagan Scotten, et al. We owe them our gratitude.

An excerpt from Scotten's letter:
...any assistant U.S. attorney would know that our laws and traditions do not allow using the prosecutorial power to influence other citizens, much less elected officials, in this way. If no lawyer within earshot of the President is willing to give him that advice, then I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion. But it was never going to be me.
Epic!

Captain's log... 29 September, 2025:
The masses have lost their minds and most cannot be bothered to look up from their communications devices to notice the dark clouds of fascism growing overhead. All signs point to a carefully orchestrated mass hallucination event. Sycophantic creatures abound but are readily identified by their red caps embroidered with a poorly kerned white font. Make Apricots Greet Aliens or some such nonsense. There is a glimmer of hope, however, as small numbers of hominids seem to have retained their spines and are willing to speak out against the cacophony of lies and distortions. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, as they say. Recon still under way; will report more tomorrow.
